"Become the Person you Dream you can Be."

Hello and Welcome!  My name is Sammi, and I am a college student who is learning to live a healthy lifestyle while on a tight budget and dealing with the stress of attending school.  Since you're here, I might as well tell you a bit more about my journey:

In high school, I was an athlete.  Not the thinnest athlete, but I was good.  Academic All-State, All-Region, All-Valley softball player.  And I loved it.  As I went through high school, I slowly gained weight.  I didn't worry too much though because I was working out most days after school and I felt fairly in shape.

August 2010, I started attending Brigham Young University.  During my freshman year, I literally gained 15 pounds.  Yes, the dreaded Freshman Fifteen.  You thought it didn't exist?  Maybe you thought you could avoid it?  Well, that's what I thought.  In the end, I let myself go.  I didn't pay attention, I ate CRAP all the time, and my workouts were not up to par.  I realized something needed to change.

In Summer 2011, I made that change a reality.  I ditched my junk food for fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.  I threw out the burgers, pizza, and fried chicken for lean proteins.  I amped up the workouts and have become a runner.  And I have never felt better in my life.  I have literally become the person I have always dreamed I could be.

I created this blog as a way to document my life.  I hope to share yummy recipes and effective workouts, but more importantly, Simply Sammi is just that. Me. I'm still figuring out who I am in this crazy world, and I hope you will join me for the ride!
